The Copper Dome had it’s early origins as a pancake house in 1960. It was that year that one of the current owners, Ernie Horowitz, opened one of the first Perkins Pancake houses in the Twin Cities.
In 1966 Fred Foley, the other current partner, came to work at the Perkins. In 1967 Perkins decided to realign their theme and change their concept to a cake and steak house. The owners decided to leave the Perkins franchise and become independent and renamed the restaurant “The Midway Pancake House”.
After making location changes in 1977 and 1981, the Copper Dome found it’s current home on Randolph Avenue in St Paul.
Many of the employee’s from The Midway Pancake House are still employed here at this location as well as many of the children of former and current employee’s. A very vivid and colorful history surrounds you here at the “Dome” and we welcome you and hope to see you often!

About The Copper Dome
Copper Dome has, for a very very very long time, been one of my favorite comfort food spots. I go there when I want a classic breakfast, with EVERYTHING, and for cheap. Seriously, this place gives you a ton of food for not a lot of money. And the waitresses are adorable. Its exactly what I want when I’ve slept in after a long night and all I want is classic comfort food breakfast, and a thermos of coffee! Highly recommended
The breakfast is not only delicious, it's inexpensive! They have so many choices and options, you're sure to find what you like! Even though I live clear on the opposite side of the cities from this place, I've been there 3 times in the last 2 months. Love it, and you have another loyal patron!
